One person died in a fire in Du Noon on Tuesday 6 December.
According to Jermaine Carelse, spokesperson for City fire and rescue service, the fire was reported at 22:45 on 6 December.
This came about when the City’s fire and rescue service was informed that there were structures on fire in Siyahlala Informal Settlement.
Firefighting crews from Goodwood, Milnerton, Atlantis, Brooklyn and Kraaifontein responded and managed to extinguish the blaze just after 01:00.
In total there were 28 firefighters, Carelse said. “And the blaze was extinguished at 01:05.”
According to Carelse, several structures were destroyed, and several residents were displaced.
