The Goodwood clinic celebrated National Nurses Day by taking time out to give back to their staff.
On Friday 12 May the clinic staff decided to educate themselves on wills and the importance of having a will. This topic was led by guest speaker Abraham Dawson, an attorney, notary and senior conveyancer at AV Dawson Inc.
After this discussion, the group concluded “No will, no peace”.
Thereafter, the Goodwood clinic staff had an activity session led by Natasha Sampson and her team, who are from the recreation and parks, community services and health. During these activities, Sampson made emphasis and reminded the staff that “to put on music and dancing is a form of exercise”. Sampson said as a healthcare worker one easily forgets to take care of yourself as well, but putting on music and dancing can help you relax and move your body, as a form of exercise.
The nurses felt special
Suzetta Smith, a nurse who started working at Goodwood CDC in July last year, said it was very informative, fantastic and uplifting.
“Sometimes people don’t see what a nurse does,” Smith said. But she is grateful to the health promoter, Naomi Mingo, who went out of her way to make the day special.
“I appreciate it and I feel very special to be a nurse from Goodwood CDC.”
Margret James, a professional nurse at Goodwood CDC, said their Nurses’ Day celebration was a good experience.
“It was nice to see and know people appreciated their services,” James said.
According to her, it is not always easy, but on Nurses Day they felt very special.
“It was a day filled with fun, laughter and relaxation.
“It was good to destress and take care of ourselves; it was a joyful day with spoils,” James concluded.
