Metro police officers arrested four suspects in Eerste River yesterday for the possession of stolen goods to the value of half a million rand.

Officers received information of a Toyota Hino truck that was hijacked in Manenberg.

The suspects then apparently headed to Khayelitsha where the stock was transferred to a yellow Hino truck and taken to Eerste River to be sold.

Offloaded at shop

According to superintendent Ruth Solomons, spokesperson for the metro police, at around 12:30, officers spotted the truck at a shop in Eerste River, where the goods were being offloaded.

“The suspects, aged between 28 and 41 years, were arrested and detained at the Kleinvlei Police Station. Officers confiscated the truck and six cellphones for further investigation. The goods were returned to the rightful owner,” says Solomons.
