Brackenfell Police Station has welcomed a new shift commander into its ranks this month.

With 15 years experience in the police service under this belt Capt Mpho Ramosala, a resident of Kraaifontein, is elated to take on this new chapter of his policing career, with the challenges it brings.

Ramosala started off his career at Kraaifontein police station in 2007, where he worked in visible policing.

Then he moved on to join the Local Criminal Record Centre and later the Police Forensics Laboratory in Plattekloof.

“Both these divisions of the police deal with attending to crime scenes and collecting and recording evidence, valuable experience gained to continue my journey in the service,” he says.

For Ramosala this new position at Brackenfell Police Station was an opportunity to return to the challenges of visible policing.

“I am getting to know the Brackenfell community where I find the crime to be manageable due to the massive community policing efforts by both neighbourhood watches and security firms in the suburb.

“A shortage of manpower in the police remains a sure challenge at present, but one we continue to take on daily,” he says.
