In celebration of its 30th anniversary the Mitchell’s Plain Educare Forum has unveiled a new logo, displaying love, care and inclusivity.
The forum launched the logo with representatives of 60 member ECDs On Wedneday 21 February at the F.R.O.G. centre in New Woodlands.
The forum, which was founded in 1994, had 150 member ECDs last year, expecting to add to this number this year. These ECDs are from Mitchell’s Plain, Samora Machel, Summer Greens, Philippi, Strandfontein, Bridgetown and surrounds.
Vice chair Soraya Abbas said the forum facilitates training and information sharing to the ECD members, which allows keeping to the current trends.
“We host workshops and give quite a bit of awareness to the ECDs,” she said.
Chair Valda Phillips said the logo formed part of creating an identity for the organisation.
“For 30 years we never had a logo, and today this is historic,” she says.
The logo was designed with children in mind, featuring nurturing hands, diversity in children and a diamond representing the children as a jewel.
“We put our heads together, this is the new exco that took over and each year we look to develop something and this is what we achieved for the new year,” says Phillips.
The logo creates a sense of belonging and formality, they say.
Mareldia Tape, Director and CEO of Grassroots, agreed the design and launch of the logo will do much to consolidate an identity for the forum.
She also encouraged the forum to be a spokesperson for its members and called on member organisations to be proactive in training and upskilling themselves.
