Cape Town’s MyCiTi bus service has begun introducing QR codes on bus-stop posters to give commuters instant access to real-time timetable information.

The transport service started the replacement process earlier this month and will gradually roll the new-look posters featuring the codes out across the MyCiTi system along routes where buses operate.

Real-time tracking provides accurate information

Commuters can now scan the QR code at bus stops, which will load the latest times for that stop and direction of travel via the MyCiTi website. Since buses are tracked, passengers will be able to see the most accurate times based on the bus’s last known location.

“In our efforts to keep Cape Town moving, our aim here is to make the travelling experience most convenient for our customers by ensuring that MyCiTi remains the reliable public transport service that it is,” said Mayco member for Urban Mobility Rob Quintas.

Passengers can continue to use the MyCiTi website, app or make a free call to 0800 65 64 63 for their latest bus times.

The shift to digital bus times at bus stops will make it easier for passengers always to have access to the latest and most reliable bus times and service updates.
