Starting on 21 November, for the next nine weeks, road works will commence on Okavango Drive between Brighton and De Bron/Marlborough Roads.

Motorists are encouraged to consider using alternative roads during this time or to make provision for longer travelling times as heavier than usual traffic congestion is expected.

According to a public notice issued by the City of Cape Town, road surfacing will take place on this road from 09:00 to 15:30 every day from Mondays to Fridays until 27 January.

It forms part of the City’s road maintenance programme.

Traffic delays and stop-and-go measures can be expected during this time as traffic in both directions will be affected, according to the notice. The dates may be changed due to unforeseen circumstances.

The City warns that vehicles parked in the areas cordoned off for work may be towed away if it obstructs work.

Furthermore, motorists are urged to be vigilant, reduce speed and consider construction workers in the work areas.

All crossings will remain open for the duration of work.
