The proposed budget for 2022-’23 suggests an increase of 11,75% on water, 6% on electricity (this most probably will become 8,61% after the finalisation of the court case between Eskom and the National Energy Regulator of South Africa) and 8% on both sewerage and refuse removal (a non-existant service).

A number of City projects are planned in Brackenfell for the coming year, as allocated in the capital and operating budget for the City’s 2022-’23 budget.

These projects were outlined at a presentation at a public participation meeting held last Monday at the Kraaifontein Civic.

In Ward 8 of Brackenfell that include among others Brackenfell Central and Protea Heights, Ferndale, Kaapsig and Sonkring, R300 000 was allocated to overtime for the City’s traffic services.

Also in Ward 8, R234 000 will be spent on building footpaths in the Hoopenberg Greenbelt and R30 000 for capacity building for senior citizens in the ward.

The Brackenfell nature reserve will be fenced in the following year for which R1,5 million was allocated in the medium term.

And sport enthusiasts can look forward to upgrades at the Brackenfell sports grounds to the tune of R100 00, while the library will receive R15 000 for additional books.

In ward 102, R200 000 will be spent on CCTV cameras, while R365 000 is allocated to side walk construction in De Tuin Crescent and R67 000 for landscaping at entrances to the ward.

A further R175 000 will be spent on the maintenance of public parks within Ward 102.
