A Milnerton man was arrested in Table View on Wednesday (15 February) night when he was caught driving a stolen vehicle.
According to a police report, shortly before 22:00 officers spotted a parked vehicle in Donkin Street while out on patrol.
Police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler says the vehicle did not have any occupants and was parked at a strange angle. The officers tested the registration number and it was confirmed as stolen in Milnerton on 5 February from a parking area.
“Whilst holding observations to see if anyone would return to the vehicle, their patience paid off when a male returned and got inside the car and drove off. The vehicle was followed and back-up was requested. In Blaauwberg Road the [driver] was instructed to pull to the side and [he] complied. The officers introduced themselves as police and notified the occupant that he was under arrest for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.”
The 31-year-old suspect from Milnerton will appear in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
