Mdzananda Animal Clinic and Shelter will host its third annual gala dinner and auction on Saturday 9 May at 18:30 at the Two Oceans Aquarium, celebrating three decades of service to Khayelitsha’s animals and community.
The milestone event comes as the organisation reflects on 30 years of providing veterinary care, animal-rescue services and community education programmes in one of Cape Town’s largest townships.
Star-studded evening planned
The fundraising event will feature renowned broadcaster Pippa Hudson as host, with respected auctioneer Guy McDonald leading a live auction of exclusive items and experiences. Entertainment will include a performance by the Isibane Se Afrika Choir during the pre-drinks reception.

Guests will enjoy a two-course dinner with complimentary wine and dessert at the popular Waterfront tourist attraction, known for its dramatic aquariums that recreate ocean conditions with their myriad marine animal and plant life.
Funds support community programmes
Event organiser and fundraiser Kelly Arendse said the annual gathering brings animal lovers and supporters together for a meaningful cause.
The funds raised on the night enable us to continue the very important work we do in the community of Khayelitsha and beyond.
Three decades of impact
Since its establishment Mdzananda has provided essential veterinary services to a community where access to animal health care is often limited. The organisation’s work includes emergency animal rescue, preventative care and educational-outreach programmes.

All proceeds from the gala will directly support these services, ensuring continued care for animals in need across the Khayelitsha area.
“Join us for an evening of celebration, connection, and compassion as we honour 30 years of impact and look ahead to a future of continued care for the animals of Khayelitsha,” Arendse said.
