Communication at last week’s Subcouncil 3 meeting in Milnerton was interrupted several times by faulty microphones, apparently caused by movie producers who use the venue for filming.
Roxanne Moses, Subcouncil manager, told councillors that movies are shot occassionally at the venue and that that was the reason for the microphones not working as it should. “They rent the venue and this is part of revenue generating for the films department,” she said.
She said tables had been moved around and that some had not been placed back.
Some of the movies and series filmed here include Arendsvlei, Unseen and Blood and Water, to mention a few. “These movies make this chamber look sparkling.”
Moses said this all happened during the recent taxi strike and as a result of this, the officials had been unable to get back to the office to ensure that all is in order.
“This has been overlooked. We want the microphones to work, but this was a minor oversight.
“I will addres it with the facility’s manager,” Moses said.
