The monthly farmer’s market in Melkbosstrand has been a pillar in the community since its inception in 2018 where it has lent a helping hand to local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) – most recently advertising its collaboration with Melkbos Care Centre which will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

“Each month the Farmer’s Market supports one local NGO,” says Annaleen van Coller, founder of the Melkbosstrand Farmer’s Market.

The farmer’s market recently turned four years old, and remains a regular occurrence in the Melkbosstrand area where local music artists provide live entertainment, food, and dessert is sold, as well as fresh produce, and souvenirs.

“This coming weekend’s farmer’s market will sell raffle tickets at R10 per ticket which will go towards Melkbos Care Centre,” Van Coller said.

There will also be a box to donate winter rain coats, gloves, scarves, and beanies for children aged two to 16.

The child care centre will use the monetary proceeds to ensure the future of the NGO, and provide food to feed 120 hungry mouths daily, says Karen Dreyer, fundraising and communications manager at Melkbos Care Centre.
