Western Cape transport minister Daylin Mitchell last week condemned renewed taxi violence in Kraaifontein.
In the latest shooting, police confirmed two taxi drivers were shot and killed and another one injured in Bloekombos last Wednesday.
The shooting occurred at about 19:30 in Jackson Masala Street.
Mitchell said the registrar’s office has called the two local associations Belta (Bellville Taxi Association) and Bloewata (Bloekombos/Wallacedene Taxi Association) to a meeting to assess the situation and any possible underlying tensions.
“I must emphasize that the Western Cape government will not compromise on the rule of law and my department is working closely with the police as they continue with their investigations into the murders and other taxi related crimes in Cape Town,” Mitchell said.
Kraaifontein police continues to investigate two cases of murder and one of attempted murder.
