A total of 1 800 MW of new power will have been installed in the region through the course of the 2026/27 financial year.

Parts of Lentegeur will be without electricity for 10 hours next week as the City of Cape Town undertakes essential maintenance at the Lantana Substation.

The work, scheduled for Tuesday 19 August, from 08:00 to 18:00, involves replacing the substation to ensure a more reliable electricity supply in future, the City said.

Streets that will be affected by the planned outage include Lantana, Cornflower, Delphinium, Leeubekkie, Larkspur, Kalkoentjie, Katjiepiering, Lobelia, Kreupelhout and Hollyhock.

Ward 76 councillor Avron Plaatjies apologised for the inconvenience and urged residents to plan ahead. “We appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our infrastructure,” he said.

For electricity-related queries residents can contact the City’s Call Centre on 0860 103 089.
