Kuils River Police recognise young team’s crime-fighting efforts

The Kuils River Police held its annual Prestige Awards ceremony on Thursday 5 March at the AFM Old Age Home in Kuils River, recognising outstanding performance among their own officers.

Seven firearms, 20+ drug arrests

The Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) B Shift, under the command of Sgt Randall Schreuder, was honoured as the best CPU group for 2025, earning the “catch of the year” award for their arrest record.

The winning team confiscated seven illegal firearms and ammunition, and made more than 20 arrests for drug dealing within the Kuils River policing precinct during the year.

Remarkably, the team has only been working together for one year.

Team chemistry proves key

Sgt Schreuder, who brings 19 years of experience to his leadership role, has built a cohesive unit characterised by strong commitment, friendship, and mutual support.

“The team spends a lot of time together, which has ensured their successes. This has created a spirit of loyalty and commitment amongst all members,” was noted.

Despite the challenges of policing a gang-affected area, the CPU B Shift team demonstrates perseverance and dedication.
