Const Keanan Davids, designated liqour official, receiving a certificate of recognition from Lt Col Nokwanda Harmans, Vispol commander at Kuils River police.

Station commander of Kuils River police, Col Jayce Naidoo, recently received a letter of appreciation from Kuils River Magistrates’ Court.

The court commended the work of Const Keanan Davids, the designated liquor official at Kuils River police, who was instrumental in securing the arrest and conviction of Nomssa Salomao Mocambicana (31) for dealing in liquor without a license.

The case was finalised through a guilty plea on Thursday 23 May.

Mocambicana was sentenced to a fine of R10 000 or 10 months imprisonment which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that she is not convicted of contravening the Liquor Act during the suspension period.

During the operation and arrest, Davids confiscated liquor and the proceeds of the unlawful sales, R3 930 in cash, that was declared forfeited to the State.

Naidoo commended Davids for his dedication and commitment.

“The successful finalisation of the matter would not have been possible without Davids’ meticulous approach to identifying problematic liquor outlets, obtaining the necessary authorisations and search warrants, and executing operations successfully.”
