A Grade 11 pupil was stabbed on his way home from JG Meiring High School.

Parents recently staged a protest at the school expressing concerns about the headmaster and apparent non-action over the fights that occur at the school, after another learner was also severely assaulted. 

On Monday 12 February a Grade 11 learner was stabbed, allegedly by an old matriculant’s boyfriend.

According to Kerry Mauchline, Western Cape Education Department spokesperson, the department is aware of the stabbing incident.

She said an unknown assailant stabbed a Grade 11 learner outside the school property, and the victim was brought back onto the school property and taken to hospital by ambulance.

“Our district support team will be at the school on Tuesday 13 February to provide counselling to learners and teachers,” Mauchline said, “and the police will investigate the incident. We appeal to anyone with any information that could lead to the arrest.” 

Sergeant Wesley Twigg, the provincial police spokesperson, said Parow police were investigating the circumstances surrounding a stabbing incident that left a 16-year-old boy with a stab wound to the head. 

According to Twigg, the incident took place on the corner of Dingle and Elize Streets, Parow on Monday afternoon, 12 February. According to reports the victim was on his way home from school when he was attacked by a group of boys. He was taken to a medical facility for treatment.

An assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm case was registered for investigation.
