Stella Learning Academy which recently opened its doors in the Monte Vista area is inviting the public to its Fun Family Spring Day.
Stella Learning Academy is a home school for struggling kids from Grade 5 to Grade 12 NQF4.
“This qualifies them to apply to various colleges,” Colleen Lawrence, a teacher at Stella Learning Academy, said.
The school is fully American GED and operates online.
“The GED is an American High School Equivalency Certificate. It is internationally recognised as a high school leaver equivalent or Grade 12 equivalent in South Africa,” Lawrence explained.
According to Lawrence, even though the school operates online, it is tops in terms of theory work in the online school industry.
“Our fundraisers help our school to be able to pay for excursions, food, art supplies and upgrades, to take the burden off parents’ pockets as things are just too expensive,” Lawrence said.
According to Lawrence, the school will have a fundraiser every term with the next one being a bring-and-braai in the fourth term.
The family-fun Spring market day will display student exhibitions and sing-along music, Halaal food stalls – curry and rice, mince rotis, boerewors rolls, warm and cold beverages, something sweet, a variety of cakes and sweets. Also arts and crafts, children’s activities, face painting and more.
The market day will take place on Sunday 3 September from 13:00 to 17:00. at 31 Mostert Street, Monte Vista.
The school welcomes anyone wanting to donate. Lawrence can be contacted on 071 515 5126 for more information.
