Yes, DK Malgas from Delft is an Uber driver who is making her debut in an upcoming film, The Number Two.
Malgas was spotted while driving one of the producers of the movie, Nic Floorkiller, around. “We were on our way to do a shoot on Table Mountain when I ordered an Uber.
Malgas was the driver and she asked where we were heading.
During the conversation I told her what we do and she asked how she can get in involved. At that moment I realised that her mannerisms are just what we were looking for in a character for an upcoming role.
The part was originally written for a male actor, but a female lead was recast a month before production started on 11 June,” says Floorkiller.
According to him he and Malgas exchanged numbers and when he was ready he gave her a call. “When she arrived on set she was professional and has so much talent. I see a bright future for her in the industry,” says Floorkiller.
Malgas plays the role of Teddybear who is looking to take out someone so that she can attain his riches.
Malgas couldn’t believe her luck.
“I never knew one day I will have to do hand to hand combat, shoot a gun and have blood all over me. I had a huge adrenaline rush when I heard action. I have never acted in front of a camera in my whole life and my world turned upside down when going from Uber driver to acting in an action movie,” says Malgas.
She says she is looking forward to growing into her new craft.
“This is a whole new direction for me, but I am willing to grow,” says Malgas.
