Learners
and staff were evacuated at Forest Heights High School this afternoon (Thursday 28 February) when a
fire broke out in one of the old unused classrooms.
According
to Bronagh Hammond from the Western Cape Education Department, learners
and educators were evacuated to the school’s field while awaiting the arrival
of the local Fire Department.
The extent
of the damage caused is still to be determined but it is said that a classroom
and storeroom have been damaged.
