The case against the man accused of killing and raping Courtney Pieters (3) of Elsies River has been postponed to 24 August.
The 40-year-old man made his second appearance in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday 24 May).
Angry residents gathered outside the court as prisoners arrived in a police van. They shouted at the prisoners calling for them to rape the 40-year-old man “soos met Courtney“.
They continually shouted their request to the prisoners to which one prisoner responded saying he would do that.
Meanwhile inside Court A, the man looked straight ahead at the magistrate in the packed courtroom as photographers snapped his picture.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that the man will be represented by Tanya Nöckler Attorneys.
The prosecutor, Adnaan Gelderbloem, called for the case to be postponed for further investigation and the finalising of the witness statements and forensic reports.
The magistrate ruled for the case to be postponed.
Outside court, angry residents continued to protest.
