An alleged gangster was arrested on Wednesday after his Brooklyn home was raided.

Officers of the Mitchell’s Plain Tactical Response Team gathered outside the house in Princess Alice Avenue shortly after 13:00 and proceeded to search the property after receiving a tip-off that drugs were being sold from the property.

Officers discovered a 23-year-old man in possession of a firearm, two big bags of dagga and about 20 smaller bags of hydroponic dagga.

Police spokesperson Constable Lorencial Johnson says officers also found ten live 9mm rounds and an undisclosed amount of cash in the house. “The suspect is currently out on parole after serving time in prison for possession of an unlicensed firearm. The firearm found today will still have to undergo tests.”

Officers also say the man is a member of the Junior Mafia Kids gang.

By 16:00 officers were still searching the home and at this stage it is unclear whether the man’s mother, who was present during the raid, will also be charged. Johnson says the suspect will be taken to Maitland Police Station.
