Road resurfacing and maintenance works are currently under way in Strandfontein and Pelican Heights, with the City of Cape Town warning motorists to expect congestion over the next month.
The project, which started on Monday 29 September, will continue until Friday 31 October, weather permitting. Work is scheduled from 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays.
Crews are resurfacing several roads in the two suburbs, including Seafarer Drive in Strandfontein, and Beak Street, Gannet Street, Skua Crescent, Owl Street, Shelduck Crescent, Albatross Street, Duiker Close, Gull Crescent, Tern Street, Plover Street, Osprey Street, Nightjar Street, Swan Street and Seagull Street in Pelican Heights.

According to Mayco member for urban mobility, Rob Quintas, the project also includes installing and repairing kerbs, manholes and channels where needed. Road markings removed during resurfacing will be replaced with new retro-reflective paint to enhance visibility and safety.
“Regular maintenance works, such as this, prolong the longevity of the City’s road network and help us keep Cape Town moving,” Quintas said.
The City has urged road users to exercise caution in affected areas while the work is carried out.
