Patrick Lategan, the founder of Touched by Style, with some of the awards they won.

Those involved in the Touched by Style Community project are walking around proudly after two of their movies received awards from the Community Media Development Forum.

The movies, The Number Two (three) and Wally Wages the Smooth Criminal (two) both received awards.

Patrick Lategan, the founder of Touched by Style, says they are ecstatic and feel energised.

“We will use this as motivation to keep doing what we are doing. Touched by Style’s main goal is to upskill young people in drama and movies, and these awards are a sign that we are doing the right thing. The actors had to sacrifice so much and clearly their hard work paid off,” says Lategan.

According to Lategan they are already working on the fifth film called June.

“The film will be about a sword slashing heroin who suffers huge loss and takes revenge on a gang called the Broken Hats,” says Lategan.

Cast member from Wally Wages, Lee-Anne Jacobs, who received a best actress award, couldn’t hold back her tears after receiving it.

“My wish is that more young people will get the opportunities that I got. Our youth need these kind of opportunities so that they can reach their full potential,” says Jacobs.
