The Church on The Rise hosted a Friendship Sunday to celebrate the importance of friendships on Sunday 9 March.
Community members were recognised for their dedication and contributions, highlighting that strong friendships are essential for supporting communities.
“By working together and sharing resources, we can make a significant impact,” said Lizette Maritz on behalf of Church on the Rise.
Each person attending received a plant, symbolising that friendships, like plants, require care and attention to grow.
Table View Police Station Commander Col Mbangu attended the event along with representatives from Table View police and other safety and security roleplayers. These included the Table View Community Policing Forum, Table View Neighbourhood Watch and Armed Response Companies such as AVID Security, ASAR Atlantic Seaboard Armed Response and Forum Security.
“Other role-players such as NPO/NGO organisations, educational institutions and businesses also attended,” Maritz said, “and were thanked for the vital role they play in the community at different levels. These included Sunningdale Primary, Zoozooland Educare, Table View Police Station victim-support volunteers, Living Legends Table View Seniors Club, Table View Angels, Home of Hope, CIC and Make It Branding.”
Dr Henri Weideman, president of The Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa, heartily encouraged the sentiment.
