The month of love started well for Goodwood residents as the Sakabula subway, which has been a problem for this community, was cleaned on Thursday 1 February by the City of Cape Town.
One resident said: “Yesterday I walked through the subway and thought to myself dear saviour, how could it all get so bad?”
She then came across people cleaning the driveway.
“We in Ruyterwacht just want to thank you for your hard work, it is noticed. Even if it rains or however hot it is, you help keep our town clean,” she said.
According to Chris Jordaan, the ward councillor for Ward 28, City of Cape Town contractors were deployed to do the clean-up.
He said the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) must come to the party as this responsibility is not the City of Cape Town’s but theirs.
