The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has advised residents, motorists, businesses and the public of road resurfacing projects in several Mitchell’s Plain areas, including Colorado Park, Lentegeur, Portlands, Westridge and New Woodlands.

The work, which began yesterday (Monday 29 September), will be carried out on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:30 until 7 November 2025.
“Now that the wet season is behind us the City can pick up pace on its road-resurfacing projects,” Mayco member for Urban Mobility Rob Quintas pointed out. “It may seem as if there are many roadworks occurring concurrently, but it is work that is necessary to ensure that we improve longevity of the road network, and keep Cape Town moving.
The scope of the work includes resurfacing roads as well as raising and replacing manholes, kerbs, channels, catchpits, frames, valves and chambers where required. Road markings will also be reinstated using retro-reflective paint.”
Affected roads include Lentegeur: Nerine Avenue, Maartblom Street, Aloe Street, Bamboo Road, Vleiroos Road, Waterblom Street, Hydrangea Road, Wilgerboom Road, Waboom Road, Rose Street, Turksvy Street and Varing Street, Westridge and Portlands: Silversands Avenue; New Woodlands: Katrine Harries Crescent and Moses Kottler Crescent.
Colorado Park: Washington Drive, Utah Place, Arizona Road, Nevada Road, Vermont Road, Mary Road, Ruth Close, Denise Circle, Cathy Close, Petra Road, Louis Crescent, Joan Close, Lara Close, Sandra Street and Colleen Street.
Residents are urged to exercise patience, plan their travel accordingly and take note of signage and instructions from traffic officials while the resurfacing work is underway.
