A free Opera in your Neighbourhood concert is taking place at the Sarepta Community Hall on Saturday 12 July at 12:00.
This initiative aims to make opera accessible to all by bringing free performances directly to local community venues.
The concert will feature performances by the renowned Cape Town Opera (CTO) Chorus singing a combination of contemporary, traditional songs and a few operatic favourites.
It will be a wonderfully entertaining showcase of the rich vocal talents of the CTO Chorus directed by Antoinette Huyssen. These performances are designed to resonate with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, emphasising the universal appeal of opera.
The concert was originally planned for 7 June but postponed due to the passing of one of the company artists.
Opera in Your Neighbourhood, sponsored by the City of Cape Town and the Judith Neilson Foundation, is part of the CTO’s commitment to community engagement and cultural enrichment.
By eliminating barriers to access, such as ticket costs and travel distances, CTO ensures that the transformative power of opera reaches every corner of Cape Town, reflecting a shared vision of inclusive and accessible arts.
Entry is free, on a first-come-first-served basis.
