The Touched by Style Community Arts organisation is calling for all talented, young, enthusiastic actors and actresses to have their fair chance to audition for roles in a new martial arts action film called Aapie.

The film will be produced by Touched by Style. According to Patrick Lategan the creative team is looking for a female actress to play the role of Nikky Zaan aka Aapie.

“Touched by Style is famous for their ongoing action film development in the Cape Flats communities and wants to create more opportunities for those who are eager to test out their acting abilities and be on the exciting journey of movie making. The actress will have to go through a short time of firearm training and even a mix of martial arts from Ninjustu, Jujitsu, Wing Chun to basic hand to hand combat, Samurai sword fight training sequences and the safe handling of props. This will be the project’s first full martial arts film and their 8th motion picture in development,” says Lategan.

Auditions

The auditions will take place on Saturday 29 April at the Ravensmead Recreational Hall (Minor Hall) from 10:00 till 13:00 and production starts at the end of May.

Co-founders of the film projects, Nic Matthee and Patrick Lategan, said in a recent interview the films have a lot of elements which audiences will relate to, but they also want to expose raw and unseen talent.

“Having a number of 200 to 400 hopeful members of the community from all ages can be heartsore to narrow down to a cast of 20 or 50 people and that’s where we see the huge need. Our dream is to get a facility and have workshops,” says Matthee.
