In a first of its kind in Brackenfell, the Brackenfell Forum this month launched the Best Brackenfell Business Awards for 2023.
The awards are aimed at boosting local business, says Darron Carroll from the forum.
“As we all know in any community it’s the economic sustainability of businesses that allows for community growth as well as the progress of the people in the communities and the increase of living standards.
“When businesses in the area are doing well, people keep their jobs, get paid more, earn more and spend more,” he says.
Since polls opened two weeks ago more than 80 businesses have been nominated and 1 500 polls cast.
Carroll says voting polls were created whereby the general public can nominate and vote for their favourite business they think is worthy of this award.
“The criteria for the awards will be simple and easy – best service level, best quality products, buyers confidence and going the extra mile,” he says.
To provide nominated businesses with maximum exposure, the awards will be marketed on social media and online media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Video, WhatsApp and Telegram.
“On the closing date all polls’ results will be collected, counted and from there we will be able to identify and announce the Top 20 voted businesses in Brackenfell.
“This will culminate in the Top 20 being invited to our exclusive gala awards evening in May where the Top 5, Top 3 and ultimately the winner will be announced.
“Three such events will be held throughout the year.
“Out of the Top 60 voted businesses during 2023 an overall winner will be announced,” he says.
Only businesses in Brackenfell that are registered on the Brackenfell Forum Website are eligible for the awards.
“Initial voting activation requires an individual to either nominate your business on our Facebook main poll or should a nomination exist already, to vote,” Carroll explains.
The public will also be able to vote on a WhatsApp Voting Line and on the Brackenfell Forum website.
Voting for the Best Brackenfell Business Awards will close on 30 April.
