Atotal of 47 women and school girls recently took part in netball games held at the newly completed mini-netball court next to the Bothasig Library, in an attempt to unite the community. The initiative was spearheaded by a local, Penny Laubscher.
The action kicked off on Thursday 1 February when all 47 enthusiastic women gathered on the mini-netball court for an exhilarating netball power hour. “Laughter echoed across the court as new friendships were forged, exercises were conquered, and spirits were lifted,” says Penny, who explained that the success of the initiative surpassed her expectations.
Several others joined in on the initiative, acting as coaches and umpires. Funding has also been secured for essential equipment like balls and sets of bibs.
“We are overwhelmed by the tremendous response from our community. It truly showcases the power of togetherness,” says Penny.
The community are invited to partake in the fun and fitness. Netball sessions are held every Wednesday and Thursday evening at 18:30 at Vryburger Park next to the Bothasig Library.
