South African music and theatre icon David Kramer is mourning the loss of his wife, Renaye, who died yesterday (Tuesday 13 October).

In a heartfelt message shared on social media this morning (Wednesday 14 October) Kramer revealed that she had died unexpectedly. “It is with a broken heart that I share the news that my beloved wife, Renaye and mother to our daughters Jesse and Amy, passed away unexpectedly yesterday, 13 October.”

The announcement prompted an outpouring of sympathy with the family now facing the difficult period of mourning.

Family asks for privacy

Kramer has asked the public to respect the family’s privacy at this time, when they come to terms with their loss. He said a “date for [the] celebration of [her] life will be announced shortly.”

No further details about the circumstances of Renaye’s death were made public.
