Bellville’s motor vehicle registration and licensing office will be closed for necessary maintenance

The City of Cape Town’s Bellville Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing Office will close for approximately six weeks from Monday 16 February for essential maintenance and upgrades.

The Reed Street facility will undergo critical repairs during the closure period, with residents encouraged to use alternative offices or online services to avoid disruption to their vehicle-licensing needs.

“We thank our residents for their patience during this time while we conduct necessary critical repairs and upgrades,” said Siseko Mbandezi, Mayco Member for Finance. “We encourage residents to visit another office in the vicinity or to make use of our various online options. The City regrets any inconvenience caused.”

Alternative service points available

Residents can access vehicle licensing services at nearby offices during the closure:

  • Parow: Parow Municipality, Voortrekker Road
  • Goodwood: Goodwood MVRL, Hugo Street

The Brackenfell Vehicle Licence Renewal drive-through facility will also be affected by the closure. The drive-through normally operates Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 14:00, accepting only card payments.

The City is promoting its digital alternatives to reduce inconvenience for residents. Vehicle-licence payments can be made online through the City’s website at capetown.gov.za.

Municipal account payments are available through multiple channels, including the City’s eServices, QR codes on account statements and electronic funds transfer. Residents can also pay at various retail outlets including Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay, PEP, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up, Woolworths, selected Spar stores and Nedbank branches.

The maintenance work forms part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve service-delivery infrastructure and ensure efficient operations at municipal facilities.
