On Thursday 8 November, members of the Anti-Gang Unit
responded to a tipoff about an unlicensed firearm and abalone at a residence in
Parow.
According to provincial police spokesperson,
Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut, a suspect fled the premises in a silver VW Polo
and evaded arrest when the Anti-Gang Unit arrived.
“The residence was searched which led to the discovery of a
6.35 Baby Browning and one round of ammunition, and abalone valued at around
R804 000,” says Traut.
“The circumstances surrounding the discovery are being
investigated and the suspect who fled is now being sought by police.”
