The Hawks units of the South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (Saneb) in Cape Town and George clamped down on an alleged hydroponic dagga laboratory in Mikpunt outside Durbanville last Monday.
Albert Rossouw (54) and Lynette Sharon Rossouw (56) were arrested at their smallholding in Mikpunt near Klipheuwel.
A total of 158 dagga plants – with an estimated value of R15 800 – and 19 jars containing harvested dagga – of which the value is estimated to be R50 000 – were found during an operation at the smallholding.
The two suspects appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday on charges of dealing in dagga.
They were released on R5000 bail each and the case was postponed to 23 January for further investigation.
The Hawks’ investigation into the hydroponic dagga laboratory ensued in George, following the arrest of Zander Willem Theron (21) on 27 November.
Theron appeared briefly in the George Magistrate’s Court on 28 November on charges of dealing in dagga and was granted R1000 bail.
The case against Theron was postponed to 15 February.
