For the next few weeks, TygerBurger will speak to a different star of the much-loved TV soapie, Suidooster about their karaoke experiences in the lead up to our Karaoke competition. This week we chat with Lauren Joseph who plays Zoë October in soap.
Do you sing karaoke?
“O yes! I am a karaoke junkie. Any opportunity I get; I go to Manilla Bar and sing my heart out or even at family and social gatherings, everyone knows when it comes to a certain time of the evening, YouTube streaming comes out to play.”
What is your favourite song?
“My go to song is always” “Dont stop believing” by Journey and anything Cold Play, oh, and let’s not forget “Girls just wanna have fun” by Cyndi Lauper.”
Have you ever embarrassed yourself?
“I’m not the best singer hey! One time I went up on stage at Manilla Bar and performed “The scientist” by Cold Play and it required a low note and let’s just say I didnt hit any note. I forgot to mention this song came up directly after Craig Lukas sang something so obviously the crowd went crazy and after I sang it was just a big no no, but I gave it my all and in the end it was a jol.”
Have you ever listened to someone at a karaoke and thought this person belongs on stage?
“Yes! All the time. There is so much talent out here in South Africa that is not recognised or even perused. Sometimes all I can do is stand in awe and cheer them on.”
Entry to TygerBurger’s Karaoke like a Star competition closes on Sunday 17 February.
To enter, send a short audition video to 076 939 6536 and show us what you can do.
The winner will walk off with prizes worth thousands of rands.
