A
25-year old man from Scottsville was arrested on Tuesday evening following a
shooting in Morgenster Heights, wherein one man died.
During
the shooting at about 23:15 on Monday evening, a 27- year-old man was shot in
the head after giving his assailant a lift. He picked him up in Frans Conradie
Road in Scottsville and while traveling up Frans Conradie Road in Brackenfell
the man pulled out a gun and tried to rob the three men in the car.
“The
suspect then shot the driver, who lost control of his vehicle and crashed
through a wall coming to a standstill in the back yard of a house in Marais
Street. The driver of the vehicle was deceased by the time emergency services
arrived at the scene shortly after,” says police spokesperson Captain Erica
Crous.
The
other occupants of the car was treated for their injuries and transported to
hospital. The robber got away on foot.
“Yesterday
Brackenfell detectives Captain Daniel Sampson and Warrant Officer Raymond
Saville received information about a possible suspect which they investigated
and found to be positive,” says Crous.
At
18:10 on Tuesday evening they arrested the man from Scottsville. He is
currently in detention and will appear in Blue Downs Court on Friday 1 February
2019 on a charge of Murder.
