Table View Lions Club, a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO), invites the community to volunteer at the club to increase the capacity of its social outreach initiative.

“(Table View Lions Club) has a variety of projects that volunteers can get involved in,” said Liz Houston, Table View Lions Club environmental chair. Projects include assisting disadvantaged youth, the elderly and disabled, as well as animal shelters.

“Each member pays an annual fee to belong to our global organisation and this looks after the administrative side,” Houston said.

Monetary donations are also welcome, should someone decide not to volunteer, and become a member, Houston explained.

Additionally, the club regularly hosts quiz evenings and other fund-raising events for the club, Houston told TygerBurger.

Table View Lions Club started in August 1976 and serves Table View, Atlantis, Mamre, Dunoon, Parklands, Sunningdale, and Melkbos. The club meets every second Tuesday of the month at McPherson’s Restaurant in Table View at 19:00.
