A few homeless people in Goodwood got blankets handed to them ahead of the cold and rainy weather Cape Town is facing.

Grandslots have partnered with one of their clients in Goodwood to donate blankets to the homeless and underprivileged in the community.

They partnered with Gophers, a local pub on Voortrekker road. This was a joint initiative of Gophers and Grandslots.

The blanket drive happened on Friday 12 August.

“It is an honour and the least we can do in these troubled cold times,” John McCrae, the area manger of Grandslots, said. “We all deserve to lie under a warm blanket on these cold nights. We are also glad to have partnered up with our client for this special event.”

Eight Grandslots staff members assisted the Gophers pub team in handing out the meals and blankets.

According to Cheronne Bosman commercial manager at Grandslots, approximately 100 meals and 100 blankets were handed out to the needy.

“This was a great initiative, the homeless were so grateful and happy.” Bosman said.
