In another bloody week in TygerBurger’s distribution area at three people died in a hail of bullets.
Last Thursday in Eureka Estate, on the verge of Elsies River and Ravensmead, a 41-year-old was killed by being shot in the head.
According to Capt Odwa Makapula, police spokesperson, the deceased is a taxi driver that went to a certain address in UItsig.
“When he stopped infront of the house a suspect opened fire through a sliding door. The driver was hit in the head, while his passenger was shot in the arm. The driver was confirmed dead on the scene, while his passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital,” says Makapula.
According to Makapula the investigation is ongoing.
In Bonteheuwel Lavis on the same day a man was shot in his face several times and passed away on the street.
According to Sgt Samantha Adonis, police spokesperson, a suspect was arrested for the murder.
“The circumstances of the murder is still uncertain, but the investigation is ongoing,” says Adonis.
Local ward councillor, Angus McKenzie, congratulated the community members who assisted in the arrest.
“Once again we would like to thank community members for providing information and ensuring that we are consistently fighting back against gangsters and their activities. I believe that this community can be stronger if everyone stand together against the eveil of gangsterism. These people live amongst us, so we know them. It is important to point them out,” says McKenzie.
According to McKenzie word on the street is that the victim was linked the recent stabbing of a teacher a local school.
“I can however not confirm this, but I am sure the police will get to the bottom of it,” says McKenzie.
Adonis says she cannot at this stage confirm if the victim was involved in the stabbing at the school, as that case is still under investigation.
