Two suspects were arrested last Tuesday and Friday respectively for attacking and robbing an 81-year-old man who was found covered in blood and with a wound to his head on Saturday 25 March alongside Contermanskloof Road.
The victim, Geza Fagyas, was found by security guards at about 17:30, and they notified the Durbanville police, says Capt Marchell Rhode, spokesperson for the Durbanvile police.
The security guards arranged for the victim to be transported to a nearby hospital.
According to Rhode it was later discovered that the man was assaulted and robbed of his belongings inside his house on the farm Kliprug.
He was attacked with an unknown object inside his house.
“The police found that the house was full of blood. An axe and knives were found with blood on it and the rooms were ransacked,” Rhode says. The suspects fled in the direction of Dunoon.
According to Rhode a 25-year-old suspect was arrested last Tuesday and already appeared in court.
“The suspect was recognised and arrested. He pointed out a stolen ring to the police that he sold in Dunoon,” Rhode says.
A 30-year-old suspect was arrested last Friday and would have appeared in court on Monday. It seems both were staying at the farm at a time, he says.
The condition of the victim is unknown, he says.
