The Alexandria Foundation, a non-profit company committed to empowering individuals through various initiatives, has recently announced the launch of their newest programme, the Raegan Jade Women in Sports Initiative.
The initiative aims to honour the memory of their late operational manager, Raegan Jade, who just recently passed away at the age of 23.
According to Alexandria Joseph, founder of the organisation, Raegan was a true marvel in the field of rugby, and this initiative will form an integral part of the foundation’s sporting focus.
“The primary mission of the Raegan Jade Women in Sports Initiative is to empower and inspire girls and women to actively participate in sports. By doing so, the foundation aims to foster their physical and mental well-being, promote gender equality, and unlock their full potential. Through this programme, the Alexandria Foundation hopes to create a platform that enables girls and women to excel in sports, regardless of any societal barriers they may face,” says Joseph.
A rolemodel
To spearhead this new initiative, the Alexandria Foundation has appointed Lucretia van Hooi as the ambassador.
“Lucretia, a remarkable woman herself, perfectly aligns with the objectives, mission, vision, and values of the Women in Sports Initiative.
“At the age of 26, she is not only a dedicated mother, a student, a wife and has a job, but she is also the captain of the local women’s rugby team, Eerste River. Lucretia’s involvement in the initiative holds special significance as she was also a teammate and friend of Raegan Jade. Her deep connection to the cause ensures that the memory of Raegan and her passion for rugby will be carried forward with great respect and admiration.
“We are honored to have Lucretia as our ambassador for the Raegan Jade Women in Sports Initiative. Lucretia’s personal journey and achievements in rugby make her an ideal role model for aspiring athletes.
“Her leadership and dedication will inspire countless girls and women to break barriers and reach their fullest potential,” says Joseph.
The Alexandria Foundation, through the Raegan Jade Women in Sports Initiative, will organise a wide range of programmes, including training sessions, mentorship programmes, and awareness campaigns, to encourage greater women participation in sports.
