The City of Cape Town’s water and sanitation directorate will be doing planned work in selected areas including Epping, in Goodwood, which will result in water supply disruptions tonight (Thursday 22 June).
According to the City, this critical work is being done on their water supply infrastructure to benefit customers.
Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to take note of the work that will take place. The affected area in Epping is Bofors Circle from Tripper Way to Carrier Way.
The main water supply in Bofors Circle from Tripper Way to Carrier Way will be shut off from 19:00 on Thursday, 22 June overnight until 02:30 on Friday, 23 June.
This will allow the maintenance crew to safely replace a bulk water meter and will result in the disruption of the water supply to this area including adjacent roads.
According to the ward councillor for the Epping area, Chris Jordaan, the area experienced terrible flooding of water and the replacement of pipes is long overdue. Jordaan said that the water disruption was advertised, and the affected organisations were made aware.
“A water tanker will be available for consumption where required.”
This work forms part of the water and sanitation directorate’s initiative-taking infrastructure maintenance and upgrade programme which ensures the future continuity of water supply by addressing the issue of unaccounted-for water.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused.
