A kite that flew into a high voltage overhead electricity line caused a power outage to several areas last week including Parow, Plattekloof, Goodwood and Monte Vista.
Cheryl Visser, Ward 1 councillor, informed residents on Thursday evening via social media that a team from the City of Cape Town attended to the power outage.
The City also issued a statement in which it said that it is attending to the matter.
“Teams are attending to a power outage affecting the high voltage lines in this area. A small kite flew into the high voltage lines. To remove it safely, the lines must be isolated.
“The kite removal by the City will be quick, but the subsequent switch on of the lines must be done by Eskom, and this could take a while. An estimated time of restoration is unfortunately currently not possible,” the City said.
According to information, the kite was removed by 21:30 on Thursday evening.
TygerBurger approached Eskom for comment but is still waiting on a response.
