The Monte Vista Plattekloof Glen Neighbourhood Watch recently elected its new executive committee with Casper Rossouw as its chair. The positions filled at the election are that of chair, vice-chair, secretary, and treasurer.
“I am very excited about the newly elected executive committee, as each member comes with fresh ideas and initiatives to benefit the community. I would like our neighbourhood watch to work more closely with our neighbouring neighbourhood watches to identify issues and problems, and assist each other with projects.
“We have seen an increase in homeless people in our areas and we need to focus on working closer with the social services to find a solution,” said Rossouw.
The Monte Vista Plattekloof Glen Neighbourhood Watch are made up of two suburbs, namely Monte Vista and Plattekloof Glen. The N1 City Mall in Goodwood also falls within their patrol area.
“I come from a police background, having served in the special guard unit protecting Very Important Persons (VIPs), the internal stability unit 10 (ISU 10) in Cape Town also formerly known as the old riot unit, and detective services.”
Rossouw has been a member of the neighbourhood watch for three years.
“I have a passion for the elderly and want to focus on safety and support measures to assist them where possible, getting them on a WhatsApp group and having patrollers to do regular visits to enquire about their wellbeing and safety.
“With the help of the members, I would like to see more bicycle patrols and visibility of the members doing patrols to be the eyes and ears of the community in conjunction with police and law enforcement agencies,” Rossouw concludes.
The remaining newly-elected executive committee members are Deon Oosthuizen (vice-chair), Leoné Pretorius (secretary) and Julian Wesson (treasurer).
