Founded in 2021 by a group of passionate individuals, the Beautify Kuils River Project officially became a non-profit company (NPC) in October last year.

A first birthday celebration was held on Saturday 28 October to mark this milestone on its ongoing journey to enhance the beauty of Kuils River, says chair Isabel Pfaff.

“This year, on our first anniversary, we gathered to celebrate our achievements. At the heart of our celebrations were our esteemed donors and supporters, who have been instrumental in supporting our cause. They were treated to sparkling wine and delightful food as a token of our gratitude for their unwavering support.”

The Beautify Kuils River Project is powered by the dedication of five women volunteers, who work tirelessly to manage the project.

“We employ casual workers to create and maintain the enchanting gardens that have become a hallmark of our town’s transformation,” Pfaff said. “These efforts are made possible through the generous donations we receive from the public and the funds we generate through community markets, which aim to unite the entire community.”

The garden at the municipal building was transformed.

The impact of their work is visible throughout Kuils River, such as the red flowerpots along Van Riebeeck Road, the decorated tyres in Amandel Road and the lush gardens at the Kuils River Municipality.

“Our influence extends to Nooiensfontein, Annandale, Checkers Circle in Langverwacht and the Primary School in Kalkfontein,” Pfaff says.

The women are planning to host an evening market on Friday 8 December at the Kuils River Tennis Club. “This event promises to be a festive occasion, and we extend a warm invitation to all the people of Kuils River to attend. By participating, you are not only joining in the celebration, but also actively contributing to the beautification of our beloved town.

“For anyone interested in supporting our cause your generosity will go a long way in making Kuils River a more beautiful and vibrant community. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to maintain and create more enchanting gardens, enhance public spaces, and bring the community together through various events.”
