A new principal has been appointed at Wolraad Woltemade Primary School in Meerhof Street, Bothasig – effective from 1 January 2024.

The school governing body’s Steve Cloete said as chair he is excited to see what the new season will bring for the school and its community, that he is looking forward to working with the new principal and that he is excited to see the new plans for the future.

Jeandré Rautenbach, the newly appointed principal, takes over the reins from Jaco Cronje who has been serving in the role of acting principal. Cronje is also the deputy principal. Cloete says Cronje is a valued leader in the school, and serves as a valuable second-in-command.

“I know the school is privileged to have two valued leaders to work towards the growth of the children of Wolraad Woltemade Primary School, I firmly believe that the school will be reaching new heights,” Cloete said.

Rautenbach matriculated from Bosmansdam High School in 2003 and studied at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She then completed her bachelor’s degree in education in 2007, cum laude.

At the time of the application process, she was a departmental head at the primary school in the intermediate and senior phase. She has also been acting deputy principal since June 2023.

Honoured

“I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with a passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact in the profession. I have a strong understanding of the challenges that both learners and educators face in today’s educational landscape,” Rautenbach said.

She has 16 years of experience in education and said she thoroughly enjoys her job.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead alongside a great staff at a highly functional school that strives for excellence in education. It is our aim to provide all our learners with a well-rounded education. As principal, I look forward to ensuring high-quality instruction every day, improving our use of technology and to cultivate leadership and professional development in our staff. I am committed to finding innovative solutions to any challenges we will face, and to working collaboratively with educators, parents and the school governing body to create a nurturing, supportive and an engaging learning environment for all learners,” she said.

Welcomed

Cronje shared the news of the appointment in a school letter dated 27 October.

“Mrs Rautenbach brings with her a wealth of experience and a strong educational background. We are confident that her leadership will be an asset to our school and the entire school community. Her passion and dedication towards each learner will ensure that they strive to become successful members of our society,” Cronje, who will continue serving in the role as acting principal until next year, wrote.
