The City of Cape Town is in the process of erecting a new solid concrete wall at the Salberau sports field.
“This process started last week Wednesday 6 March and must be finished by the end of June,” says Chris Jordaan, councillor for Ward 28
He said this comes in the wake of everyday vandalism and slabs being stolen. In addition, floodlights are also being stolen.
Break-ins at the clubhouse are a concern, said Jordaan. “At one stage the security were threatened with knives.”
He felt the wall will keep the thugs out and will also ensure the sports codes can enjoy a safe and secure environment.
“I sincerely hope the community will look after this well-deserved facility,” Jordaan said.
