Members of the Belhar Cricket Club (BCC) are bursting with pride as they have for the first time in their history been promoted to WP Division 1B.
The promotion was secured last week when Belhar demolished Fishhoek Cricket Club by bowling them out for a mere 37 runs.
The win came on the last day of the season and with it Belhar ended second on the log, on six points, behind the first placed Cravenby Cricket Club.
The two top teams are being promoted.
Darryl Wymers, Chair of BCC, congratulated Dillon Plaatjies (captain) and Adrian Roberts (player/coach) for the team’s achievement.
“The team’s hard work and dedication through a difficult and challenging season has paid off,” says Wymers.
Wymers says this promotion is a testament to the amazing, hardworking coaching staff and team and support system they have been blessed with at BCC. “Thank you for the supporters and the rest of the club for the trust and confidence they have placed in us. I am honoured and grateful that we have been promoted. We are looking forward to continue to make a positive impact on the cricket field in the 1B league, similar to what we have achieved over the last few seasons by showing our grit and determination.”
