The much anticipated dark fantasy superhero action film Death Angel will be released on 28 March on the Touched By Style community-arts organisation’s YouTube Channel.
The martial-arts film draws inspiration from the book A Hero’s Journey by Joseph Campbell.
Writer and director Nic Matthee said the visual and spiritual anatomy of the film is motivated by heroic elements. “It’s the choices we make in life to follow the right path that justifies our decisions and actions, and how a small act of kindness can result in big life changes,” he explained.
“The film was made with an amazing cast, outstanding talent from the Cape Flats communities . . .”
Patrick Lategan, co-founder of Touched by Style, said there is so much talent in communities – Delft, Belhar, Tokai, Elsies River and Mitchells Plain – top-notch contributers who have to endure challenges and overcome obstacles to reach goals.
Production of Death Angel started last November and ended this month. It involved “a cast of 15, support crew of 19, four locations, constant short rehearsals in martial arts choreography, sword play and gun battle choreography, script adjustments.”
